Microsoft recently featured its new SharePoint 2013 which says that it is the new and improved way to work altogether. It stuffed with simplified user experience helping users to organize, sync, and share all their content. Also, with the feature like social sharing, users can share their ideas and work with one simple click.

Currently, there are more than 4000 associates and around 135,000 people who work on Share Point solution to provide solutions. This is why; people were so eagerly waiting for the SharePoint 2013. Everyone in the tech town is quite excited about this release. SharePoint Application Development is becoming more and more popular these days.

Microsoft moving to the cloud is the most interesting part. Now, most of the businesses are shifting towards Office 365 got to ensure that they experience increased efficiency, better websites and a higher customer reach, which ultimately propel the company to the desired heights.

What’s New in SharePoint 2013?


Here let’s discuss the major new features added in it:


1. Simplified User Experience: Microsoft has claimed that with this new SharePoint; users will get a simple and easy design with experience like quick access to all the documents, news feed, saving and sharing of content, editing list etc. it also allows you to use all the activities even if you are on mobile or tablet devices.

2. Universal Social Networking: They have worked mainly on their collaboration tools. With features like new micro blogging, news feeds, and social features like community have been added.

3. SkyDrive Pro: Save, sync, share and collaborate all of them are quite easy if you use the new SkyDrive Pro.  It simply makes it easy and consistent.

4. SharePoint Sites: Microsoft has streamlined the new site experience to the users. The team collaboration tools have been so expanded that they can perform tasks that people would only imagine earlier.

SharePoint 2013 added many exciting new features specially the open specification documentation. They still have many existing features of 2010, like:

• Access services
• Excel services
• PerformancePoint services
• InfoPath services
• User Profile services
• Business Connectivity services
• Search services

There are many features which are beneficial for an enterprise application development. In this new solution, the other added features are:

• Content Management Services
• Enterprise Content Management
• Work Management Services
• Workflow Services
• Translation Services
• Education Services and,
• SharePoint Quiz Client-Side Object Model Protocol

With the client-side object model (CSOM) building useful application is possible without server side code on the SharePoint. There are 3 ways through which you can access the CSOM functionality, they are –

• .NET / Silverlight API
• JavaScript API
• REST API

In SharePoint 2013, as you can use .NET client, Silverlight, Windows Phone, and JavaScript APIs, in addition to this they have newly expanded set of .NET server managed APIs, to customize the Enterprise Content Management (ECM) experiences and behavior.
